Intentional Choices in Hamburg

1 Comment 07 February 2010

Yesterday in Hamburg we met for a weekly prayer walk with a group from OM (Operation Mobilization International). We met  a couple of young German women who work in the marketplace but make time each week to go on the prayer walk.  They were living in another part of the city but really sensed the Lord moving them to be more intentional in their lives.

They started praying about what this could be and ended up in an area of the city where many immigrants live. They felt this was the place. As we talked quite a bit yesterday I realized these young women are making a lot of intentional choices as they live their lives. They are meeting people as they do their everyday shopping, go to parks, doctor offices, work. They are finding ways to meet their neighbors. They intentionally pray a blessing for the neighborhood and pray for natural opportunities to share their faith.

They are making a difference. They are part of a church where they find much community and purpose but they are also actively looking for ways to start other groups. In fact the passage of scripture in Matthew while Jesus was talking about Salt and Light serves as an inspiration for them. I believe they are living out the Great Commission. They are living out their lives being salt and light in their community. They served as an encouragement and inspiration to me. Spending time with them also challenged me in the way I am living my life and the daily choices I make to engage people with the gospel.
